We designed and made Christmas wrapping paper and tags. We drew and cut out a Christmas shape from foam. We then used this for repeated printing to create a Christmas pattern. We made matching gift tags.

6 Green Flags!
We had a celebration day last Friday to celebrate Scoil Mhuire being awarded our sixth Green Flag. This flag was awarded for Global Citizenship. We helped to decorate the hall for the presentation of the Green Flag and we sang some songs for the guests, who included Minister Frances Fitzgerald, and for the other students. Here are some photos of our preparation and of the day itself.
Science- Testing for Starch
We carried out an experiment to test different foods for the presence of starch. Starch is the most common carbohydrate in the human diet. First, we made predictions about whether each food would contain starch.
Then, we carried out our investigation using iodine. We used iodine solution to test for starch. If starch was present, the food turned a purple-black colour when the iodine was dropped onto it. We recorded our results. We found that white bread contains the most starch.

Hallelujah Concert 2014- Citywest
We had a brilliant day and night in Citywest Convention Centre on Tuesday. It was a tiring day, but we put on a great show with all the other schools. We sang our hearts out and had lots of fun.
There were a few surprises, including a few songs by Louis Walsh's new boyband "Hometown". We're all big fans now! Check out some pictures of the night below.

6th Class Cake Sale for Laura Lynn Children's Hospice
We held a Cake Sale for the whole school on the Friday before the mid-term. We designed posters to advertise our sale and visited each of the classes in the school to tell them about our sale.
We all baked something for the Cake Sale so there was lots of delicious cakes to go round.

We raised €420 from our Cake Sale. We researched some charities that might benefit from the proceeds of our sale and wrote a report on them. Laura Lynn Children's Hospice was the most popular charity, so we decided to donate our cake sale money to this very worthy cause.
